Zach Braziller of the New York Post reported on Sunday afternoon that the Mets are promoting top prospect Andres Gimenez from Class-A Port St. Lucie to Double-A Binghamton.
The Venezuelan native is a consensus top 100 prospect, the Mets top prospect. and a top-ten shortstop prospect in all of baseball. He is slashing .282/.348/.421 this season for the St. Lucie Mets with six home runs, thirty RBIs, and 28 stolen bases.
Gimenez will join the Mets top right-handed pitching prospect, Justin Dunn, in Binghamton, making two of the Mets top five prospects will be playing for the Rumble Ponies.
The 19-year old is ranked 67th in MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospect, and ranked as the teams best prospect by ESPN, MLB.com, Baseball America, and MetsMinors.net. He is also ranked as the eighth best shortstop prospect on MLB Pipeline.com
