Playing in their first of four inter-winter-league games this season, Mets prospects Andres Gimenez and Ali Sanchez provided more than enough offensive firepower for the Scorpions. In the bottom of the fourth inning with runners on second and third base, Sanchez hit a ground-ball through the right side of the infield to drive in both runners to give the Scorpions a 2-0 lead. The Scorpions would add another run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning, but, the big blast came courtesy of Gimenez in the eighth inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Gimenez turned on a full count, inside fastball and launched it over the right field wall for a grand slam home run.

Blake Taylor pitched the ninth inning for the Scorpions but he did not have his best stuff. He was ambushed immediately as Misael German jumped on a first pitch fastball down the middle for a lead-off triple. The next batter would drive him in with an RBI ground-out. Taylor was able to limit the damage to just that one mistake but across his 22 pitches through, he did not miss a single bat.
