Game Summary
After a slight rain delay, the sun came back out and the Mets fought their way back to win 6-3 over the Nationals thanks to some late innings magic. Dickey did his job on the mound, ‘pen gave up one run, and the offense, behind the Murph-Man, gave the Mets plenty of runs to win another one!
Game Notes
R.A. Dickey pitched impressively against the Nats, not quite like 2010, but he did his job. He allowed eight hits, but kept runners from scoring for the most part as only two scored on him. Anytime a Mets starter can give their team 6-7 innings with only two runs scored, it’s a good start. He may have walked away with only a no decision, Dickey did his part. He pitches 6.2 innings with eight hits, two earned runs, only one walk and three strikeouts.
Iggy picked up Dickey’s last out. Pedro Beato who has been the Mets most reliable reliever this season, allows an unearned run in an inning pitched. K-Rod pitches an inning, with a strikeout and a hit, gets his sixth save of the season.
The offense was flat until the eighth and ninth innings. After being behind since the fifth inning, Daniel Murphy showed some pop with a solo homerun in the eighth to tie up the game. The ninth inning was explosive with four runs scored for the Mets to take the lead, with Murphy again with the biggest blow.
Murphy who was a pinch hitter in the game had the biggest game. He was 2-2 with a homerun, a double, run scored, a three RBIs. Ike and Bay each had two hits each. Hu, Thole, and, Turner each had an RBI in the game.

The ninth inning when the rally started and Murphy put the final nail in the Nats coffin.
