David Wright reached base in a career high-tying nine consecutive plate appearances after walking and hitting a run scoring double in his first two trips to the plate yesterday. He also accomplished the feat, August 23-24, 2005. Wright had six singles, a double and two walks during his streak.

Since June 5, the Mets third baseman is hitting .441 (15-34) with five runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and six RBI over a span of eight games. His on-base percentage during that span is .500 and he has multi-hit games in five of those eight contests.

Wright is five hits shy of 1,500 for his career. He already is the franchise holder for career hits. He would become the 30th active player to collect 1,500 hits, but of the previous 29 players only six have collected 1,500 hits with their current team (Derek Jeter, Todd Helton, Paul Konerko, Jimmy Rollins, David Ortiz and Robinson Cano).
