Adam Rubin of ESPN New York confirms that minor league first baseman Allan Dykstra has suffered broken fibula in winter ball and is headed back to the U.S., likely for surgery.

Dykstra, 26, set career highs in home runs (21) and RBIs (82) and led the Eastern League in on-base percentage (.436) and walks (101).

In addition to being named the Binghamton Mets and Eastern League MVP, he was honored as the New York Mets Sterling Organizational Player.

He could miss anywhere between 6-10 weeks, but we’ll no more after surgery. Tough break…
