matt harveyIt’s already starting to feel like spring for Matt Harvey who probably can’t wait to climb the mound on opening day 2015 and put the last year behind him. On Monday, Harvey took the final step in his rehab for 2014. Before being shut down for the off season, he threw a bullpen session at Citi Field which included him consistently hitting 95 mph on the gun. Harvey seems ready to compete again.

While Harvey’s rehab has been a rocky road at times, it seems as if both parties are ready to agree on shutting it down until spring training arrives. He threw three simulated innings on Monday and Terry Collins described it as being “really impressive” (Fox Sports).

With so many members of the Mets future in attendance on Monday to accept Mets Sterling Awards, Harvey set the tone. His presence seems to get everyone going and although Sandy Alderson said that Harvey’s workload will be restricted in some way next year, Harvey’s a guy who battles. No matter what comes his way, he seems ready for the challenge.

For the Mets ace, spring can’t come soon enough and for Mets fans it should feel the same way.
