Infielder/outfielder Luisangel Acuña and right-handed pitcher Blade Tidwell are scheduled to make their debuts for Double-A Binghamton this week. Acuña, the Mets’ newest infield prospect, is scheduled to debut on Tuesday. Tidwell, who was promoted from Single-A Brooklyn, is scheduled to make his Double-A debut on Wednesday. Binghamton on Tuesday will open up a six-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Acuña was acquired on Saturday from the Texas Rangers in the trade that shocked the baseball world when the Mets sent Max Scherzer to Texas.

Acuña, the brother of Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was signed by the Rangers in 2018 and has since worked his way to Double-A. On Sunday, the Mets announced that Acuña would start his Mets career in Binghamton.

The Mets drafted Tidwell at the No. 52 overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft out of the University of Tennessee. In just one year, he has impressed on the mound and will now make his Double-A debut on Wednesday.

Tidwell, this season with High-A Brooklyn, was 8-3 with a 3.09 ERA over the course of 17 games pitched in. He has given up just 28 earned runs on 55 hits over the course of 81 2/3 innings pitched and has struck out 112 batters over the course of the season. He has a .190 AVG and a 1.24 WHIP.
