Jonathon was great today, giving up one run on five hits in seven innings with seven strikeouts and NO walks. Johnathon was in the zone today, getting behind some hitters early today but finding a way to get them out consistently. The bullpen failed to hold another lead, with Hisanori Takahashi giving up a hit and a walk in two-thirds of an inning, but was charged with two runs that Manny Acosta let score on the Melvin Mora grand slam. Manny Acosta was charged with three runs on three hits with two walks without managing an out. Pedro Feliciano came out for one-third of an inning and got the last out. Bobby Parnell came in for what wasn’t more then mop-up duty and gave up one hit and struck out one in one inning. As foolish as it has sounded, the Mets may actually be missing a true eighth inning pitcher, because nearly everyone who has attempted it for the Mets has faltered in the last few weeks
The Mets offense didn’t exist today. THREE hits all game, with two coming in the first inning. Angel Pagan sent a ball deep to left field for the only two Mets runs of the game, scoring Jose Reyes.
Carlos Beltran, 0-4, strikeout. Hitting a robust .185.
David Wright. 0-4, Golden Sombrero of strikeouts and beat up the bench for his hitting inability. Nice work.
Mike Hessman, 0-2 but drew a walk…the only Met to do so.

Jonathon Niese, yet again a game that was a deserved and hard-earned win, stolen away by lackluster bullpen efficiency.
On Deck
The Mets will finish the series up tomorrow at a 12:10 pm game that I will be attending and hopefully obtaining some pictures from. Johan Santana will look to stop the bleeding, with Jason Hammel pitching for the Rockies.
