MLB: Chicago White Sox at New York Yankees

Kevin Kernan of the New York Post sat down with New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, who had heaps of praise for the young guns in the starting rotation that plays across town in Flushing.

A-Rod didn’t mince any words when asked to weigh in on Mets starting pitchers: Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Steven Matz and Zack Wheeler who should be ready in June.

“They got it all rolling right now,’’ he told The Post. “I grew up watching the ’86, ’87 Mets and this staff reminds me of that staff.’’

“What makes them so good is they have the ability to throw in the mid-90s and blow you away with a fastball, but they can also pitch. They can locate and they are all good athletes and they can all hit and they can bunt,’’ Rodriguez said. “It’s phenomenal. And the combination of age and talent, the Mets have something special.’’

Kernan asked A-Rod how hitters should prepare when tasked with facing the Mets rotation in a series. “You go to church on Sunday and light up a couple of candles,” he said.

Incidentally, Rodriguez said he loved the Yoenis Cespedes signing for the Mets, calling it a great move that now makes their lineup unbelievable,
