The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Cleveland Indians have reached an agreement with former Chicago Cubs closer, Kerry Wood.
Apparently, Wood was deciding between the Tigers and the Indians; both teams made aggressive pitches for his services.
Wood’s signing comes on the heels of the new deal Francisco Rodriguez agreed to with the Mets.
The deal is believed to be two years with a vesting option for a third, but financial details have not yet been announced.
It looks like the rest of the dominoes in the closer market will begin to fall quickly.
The Brewers are already hot on the trail for former Rockies closer, Brian Fuentes.
