Looks like the news on Carlos Delgado is much worse than first reported. Mets.com is now reporting that first baseman, Carlos Delgado will miss a week to ten days due to a strained right hip flexor.
Delgado underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test on Wednesday after feeling a twinge in his right hip while swinging at a pitch during the eighth inning of New York’s 11-7 win over the Reds on Tuesday.
Not exactly the kind of news we wanted to hear, but hopefully he can get healthy and start contributing to the team again as soon as he returns.
The timing of this couldn’t have been worse for Delgado. This is now the second time he goes down with an injury just when he started to hit the ball well.
Hopefully Jeff Conine, who has not done much since joining the team, will be a good stopgap until Delgado returns. It will also give Shawn Green some additional playing time as well.
