If there was any thought the 2026 World Series was going to be a bore, think again. After the Brewers took Game 1 in a pitchers’ duel, they stunned the Rays in Game 2, overcoming a 4-0 deficit to win 5-4 to take a 2-0 lead in a best-of-seven series. Now, the World Series heads to St. Petersburg, where the Rays try to make it a 2-1 series.
After winning ALCS MVP, former Met Freddy Peralta gets the ball for the Rays, hoping to curb the red-hot Brewers and get Tampa Bay on the board. Peralta has been utterly sensational this postseason, allowing just two earned runs over 16.2 innings while striking out 12. The 30-year-old was stellar in his last outing, pitching five innings of one-run ball in a game that helped clinch the AL Pennant for the Rays.
For the Brewers, everything seems to be going right this postseason. While things looked to take a turn south in Game 2 after starter Logan Henderson surrendered four runs in the first inning, the Brewers’ offense picked him up. Gasser last pitched in Game 3 of the NLCS, baffling Dodgers’ hitters. The southpaw went five innings of scoreless ball, allowing just three hits and striking out three.
