By the spike of a cleat, the Mets have swept the series against the Miami Marlins.
In a game that provided 29 total runs and 35 total hits, New York escaped Wednesday night with a 15-14 victory. The Mets’ lineup, led by Luis Torrens, A.J. Ewing, and Christopher Morel, was on fire once again. Outside of a few players, it was a rough night for the Mets’ pitching staff. It was only through the efforts of the lineup and a shutdown two-batter effort from Tobias Myers that the Mets won the game.
With the sweep of the Marlins complete, the Mets now look to continue their hot streak in a Subway Series battle against the Yankees in the Bronx.
The Mets’ Offense Goes Nuclear
As they have done all series, the Mets scored early and often against the Marlins, powering the team to a sweep.
In the beginning of the game, New York made things very difficult for starting pitcher Janson Junk. The Mets notched eight runs on eight hits, while only striking out once. A.J. Ewing and Brett Baty started things off for the Mets, notching two separate singles to make it 2-0. The rest of the lineup followed suit: a Luis Torrens double, a Bo Bichette single, and a Carson Benge groundout extended the lead to 6-0.
In the third inning, Christopher Morel reintroduced himself to the Miami faithful. The first baseman smoked a slider 405 feet to left field, extending the New York lead to 8-0.
The Mets strike first in the 2nd. After singles from Jared Young and Marcus Semien, A.J. Ewing ropes a single into RF to give NY the 1-0 lead. The CF continues to produce in this series. #Mets

Christopher Morel says hello and goodbye! In his first at-bat of the game, the 1B crushed a ball 405 feet to LF for a HR. The Mets now lead 8-0 in yet another impressive start for the offense. #Mets @Metsmerized @LatinoSports pic.twitter.com/6rNq8uzsKK

In a wild twist of events, though, the Mets’ pitching staff blew the 8-0 lead, allowing the Marlins to tie the game. But instead of imploding themselves, New York’s offense stepped up to the metaphorical and literal plate to save the game.
After the Marlins hit Carson Benge and walked two more batters, A.J. Ewing hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 9-8 game. Christopher Morel and Luis Torrens followed up with RBI singles to make it an 11-8 game. And once Francisco Lindor stepped up to the plate, it was showtime. The shortstop launched a home run to right field, extending the lead to 14-8 and all but sealing a victory.
New York later added a run in the eighth inning, as Torrens beat out an infield single to make the lead 15-9.
Christopher Morel and Luis Torrens come through for the Mets as well, as both players notch RBI singles. Morel has been on fire tonight.
And then Francisco Lindor does his thing, smoking a 3-run HR to RF. In the blink of an eye, the Jets now lead… I mean, the Mets now lead…— Brandyn Pokrass (@BPok24) September 10, 2026
On the day as a whole, New York totaled 15 hits and had their entire lineup reach base once again. Jared Young had a multi-hit game and scored three runs. Luis Torrens, Christopher Morel, and A.J. Ewing did the majority of the damage in the game. Torrens had three hits and four runs batted in, while Morel broke out with three hits and three runs batted in. Ewing may have had the best all-around game for the Mets; on top of great defense, Ewing notched a stolen base, three hits, two runs batted in, and two runs scored. In short, the CF was great in every aspect of the game.

Heading toward 2027, the Mets’ lineup keeps showing plenty of signs of optimism. A game where they single-handedly carried the team to victory should only help that grow.
The Bullpen Implodes
If not for the dynamic Mets’ offense, this disaster of a bullpen performance would have lost New York the game.
Robert Stock had a fine outing for the Mets; in four innings, the right-hander struck out four batters, walked two batters, and gave up three runs. He had some great moments, but he also faced his struggles in the 4th inning.
Following a clean frame from Austin Warren, the unit proceeded to melt down and consistently put the Mets in danger of losing the game.
Chris Devenski allowed five earned runs in 0.1 innings pitched on four hits. And after a respectable 1 2/3 innings of work from Daniel Duarte, Jonathan Pintaro and Nate Lavender struggled. Pintaro allowed two runs in his inning of work, while Lavender got rocked for three earned runs in the 9th inning. It was only through the tightrope act of Tobias Myers, who notched a strikeout and a popout, that the Mets won the game.
FINAL: Mets 15, Marlins 14
Tobias Myers plays the role of firefighter well, notching a strikeout and pop out to end the game. New York’s offense, even after scoring 15 runs, did just enough to seal the series sweep. Impressive overall series for the Mets on offense. #Mets pic.twitter.com/78jiVCb72J— Brandyn Pokrass (@BPok24) September 10, 2026
