The Mets have reinstated Juan Soto from the injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the Astros.
Soto was placed on the IL on July 25 with a left calf strain. It was the second calf injury Soto sustained during the 2026 season, the first coming back in April when he strained his right calf.

Soto returning to the major league club without a rehab assignment shouldn’t come as a shock. He told the media during the Brewers series that he felt as if he didn’t need a rehab assignment, and was nearing a return.
The Mets’ superstar was in the midst of an MVP-caliber season when he hit the shelf in July. Soto was slashing .283/.408/.539 with 21 homers in 84 games.
In a corresponding move, the Mets optioned Eric Wagaman to Triple-A Syracuse. The 28-year-old was slashing .191/.269/.319 in with two homers in 52 plate appearances.
