Mitch Voit is handling the adjustment to Double-A pretty well.
The 21-year-old infielder was promoted from High-A Brooklyn on July 27. Since then, it’s been two weeks, two Eastern League Player of the Week awards. The second honor was announced Monday by the Rumble Ponies.
From August 3-9, Voit went 11-for-18 with three doubles, four RBIs, nine runs scored, four walks and three stolen bases. When he went 5-for-6 on August 6, he tied a Binghamton franchise record for hits and runs scored in a game.
The Mets took Voit in the first round (38th overall) in the 2025 Draft out of the University of Michigan, and MLB Pipeline ranks him as the team’s No. 6 prospect with a 2028 ETA.
He led Double-A in batting average, on-base percentage and runs this week and was tied for first in hits. The batting average was second across all minor leagues, and the OBP was tied for second.
In 11 games at Double-A, he is 22-for-40 with a home run, seven doubles and a triple, producing an absurd slash line of .550/.633/.850. Some scouts say his best attribute is his throwing arm.
Voit hit .242/.349/.396 with 11 homers and 49 RBIs in 76 games for Brooklyn before he was promoted. He stole 36 bases in 44 attempts. He leads the Mets organization with 42 steals overall.
