Players of the Week
Offense – Daiverson Gutierrez, C Brooklyn
Gutierrez has generally been a disappointment for the Mets since he was the top signee of the team’s international class in 2023. He had a terrible start to this season, but he’s been fantastic lately and is finally showing some promise. He’s also still just 20 years old, so it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see Gutierrez turn it around.
Pitching – Dakota Hawkins, P Brooklyn
Dakota Hawkins has been a pleasant surprise as a pitching prospect after joining the Mets organization as an undrafted rookie in 2023. He’s blossomed into a quality arm and just had the best start of his career. Hawkins is an older prospect at 26, so he’s older than most of his competition, but it’s encouraging to see him have sustained success.
Upcoming Schedule – July 14-19
- Triple-A Syracuse: vs. Buffalo
- Double-A Binghamton: vs. Akron
