Jonah Tong struck out eight in a Syracuse loss, R.J. Gordon had one of his best outings of the season in a Binghamton win, Mitch Voit continued to dominate for Brooklyn and Antonio Jimenez is on a heater in July, but that wasn’t enough in a St. Lucie loss.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (45-45) 4, Norfolk Tides (32-57) 5

BOX SCORE

  • 1B Ryan Clifford – 2-for-5, 2B, HR (16) 3 RBI (47), 1 K (.685 OPS)
  • LF Nick Morabito – 2-for-4, 1 R, 1 RBI (33), 1 BB, 1 K (.806 OPS)
  • RF MJ Melendez 1-for-4, 2B, 1 BB, 1 K (.839 OPS)

Clifford has shown some signs of life in July, but his 2026 season has been forgettable, seeing his plate discipline and slugging percentage drop and he will be playing the entire 2027 season as a 23-year-old. Syracuse went 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

  • RHP Jonah Tong (6.00 ERA) 5 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, 2 HR allowed (53 of 92 pitches for strikes)
  • LHP Nate Lavender (3.51 ERA) 1 IP, 1 BB, 2 K

Tong actually raised his ERA in this start while striking out the most batters he has since May 8. Tong may be a candidate for improving his approach at the MLB level, as the Triple-A ABS system and the extreme hitters-park nature of Syracuse has ruined his 2026 season. If the Mets do go into fire sale mode, Lavender is the prime candidate to come up, striking out 60 batters in 35+ innings.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (31-53) 7, Hartford Yard Goats (45-38) 3

BOX SCORE

Matt Rudick went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Rudick, just a few years ago was on most Mets top-30 lists, but injuries and a crowded system forced him off of them.

  • RHP R.J. Gordon (6.34 ERA) 5 2/3 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K ( 59 of 86 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Brian Metoyer (4.22 ERA) 1 1/3 IP, 1 BB, 2 K

Binghamton pitchers only walked three on Thursday and managed to work around ten hits, four of which went for extra bases. Justin Armbruester struck out three in his inning of work.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (33-49) 11, Wilmington Blue Rocks (42-41) 2

BOX SCORE

  • SS Mitch Voit – 2-for-2, 2 R, HR (11) 3 RBI (36), 3 SB (30), 2 BB (.777 OPS)
  • CF John Bay – 2-for-4, 2 R, HR (13), 3 RBI (43) (.809 OPS)
  • C Daiverson Gutierrez – 3-for-3, 2B, 2 R, HR (5), 3 RBI (27) (.628 OPS)

The Cyclones were firing on all cylinders, led by Voit being the spark plug as usual. Voit is on pace for a 15 HR/40 SB season and will be expected to have a much higher 2027 prospect ranking. Only one Cyclones player failed to reach base safely.

  • RHP Dakota Hawkins (2.54 ERA) 6 IP, 5 K (47 of 62 pitches for strikes)

The Cyclones only allowed two hits, both of which were allowed in the ninth inning. Ryan Dollar has struck out 44 batters in 31 innings.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (37-45) 3, Jupiter Hammerheads (44-40) 15

BOX SCORE

  • 2B/SS Elian Peña – 2-for-4, 1 K (.725 OPS)
  • CF Trey Snyder – 0-for-4, 1 K (.664 OPS)
  • 3B Antonio Jimenez – 1-for-5, 1 R, HR (5), 2 RBI, 1 K (.817 OPS)

Peña has slowed down after his torrid start, which is probably the result of it being the dog days of summer combined with his first full professional season. Snyder got the start in center field, adding some diversity to his profile.

  • RHP Christian Rodriguez (4.08 ERA) 3 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 5 K, 1 HR allowed (41 of 62 pitches for strikes)

Second baseman Taylor Darden was the only player to throw a scoreless inning in this blowout.
