With the Mets set to play four games within 48 hours, what’s bothered the Mets the last month is in question again: what’s up with their rotation?
While addressing the media Tuesday, David Stearns said the Mets will continue to evaluate the rotation on a “turn-by-turn” basis.
Like the offense earlier in the year, Stearns said the team hasn’t received “consistent” performance from its starters. Injuries have piled up, with Clay Holmes and Kodai Senga out for extended periods, but recently, the rotation is what’s been putting games out of reach early for the Mets. Stearns cited high walk rates as particularly troubling.
In positive news, Christian Scott will be activated this weekend and start for the Mets against the Phillies. In other news, David Peterson is expected to start—or simply open—Friday’s tilt with the Phillies.

Francisco Lindor’s Return Nears
Lindor will play a rehab game with Syracuse on Tuesday, and how he responds will define his next steps. He could return as soon as Thursday.
Stearns said Lindor will play shortstop “more days than not” once he returns, indicating he will get some run at first base.
“We also can’t put everything on Francisco to come back … and expect him to put us on his back,” Stearns said.
