Less than three weeks after meniscus surgery on his right knee, Francisco Alvarez connected Tuesday for a pair of opposite-field doubles in his first rehab game with Triple-A Syracuse. One was a towering fly off the right-field wall and the other was lined down the line. You can see both hits here. He also caught six innings behind the plate and threw out a runner stealing.

Low-A St. Lucie’s home game with the Clearwater Threshers was rained out and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

DSL Mets Blue (2-0) 15, DSL Yankees (1-1) 14

Box Score

  • SS John Sanchez, 1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB (.974 OPS)
  • LF Jonn Sanchez, 3-for-5, HR (1), 4 RBI, 2 R, K (1.600 OPS)

  • 3B Michalle Mercedes, 3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R, K (1.000 OPS)

If you’ve seen a better DSL line score, please let us know. The Mets trailed 9-0 after three innings and 14-7 after six. They rallied for three in the seventh and five in the ninth. Jonn Sanchez’s three-run homer pulled the Mets within 14-13 and they took the lead on Mercedes’ go-ahead, two-run single with two outs. Be aware the DSL Mets Blue have a John Sanchez at shortstop and a Jonn Sanchez in the outfield. The shortstop is a 17-year-old from the Dominican Republic and the outfielder is a 19-year-old from Venezuela. They both doubled, which is probably some kind of record.
