It’s official. The Mets on Saturday inducted organization greats Lee Mazzilli and Bobby Valentine into the New York Mets Hall of Fame. They were honored Saturday in a pre-game ceremony before the Mets took on the Marlins at Citi Field.

In a day marked with history in New York, it was also a special day for Hayden Senger as he hit his first major league home run — and Christian Scott, who earned his first big league win in the Mets’ 6-1 victory over Miami.

The Mets and Marlins close out their series on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. ETT. It will be right-handed pitcher Janson Junk (3-5, 4.80 ERA, 43 SO) taking the mound for Miami against right-handed pitcher, Nolan McLean (204, 4.440 ERA, 75 SO) on the mound for the Mets.

Per Will Sammon of The Athletic, after optioning Tobias Myers to Triple-A on Friday, the Mets on Saturday selected left-handed pitcher Cionel Pérez and designated Anderson Severino for assignment. The Mets later confirmed the transactions, noting they added Pérez to the major league roster.

Jay Horwitz, formerly of Mets Public Relations, discussed Mike Piazza flying all the way from Switzerland overnight to be at Valentine’s and Mazzilli’s Mets Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday.

Mike Puma of The New York Post noted that the Mets are hoping to have Jorge Polanco back with them next weekend in San Diego.

Per Talkin’ Baseball, Major League Baseball suspended the Brewers’ Abner Uribe for a triple-chop celebration directed at the St. Louis Cardinals’ dugout this week.

The Chicago White Sox announced that Munetaka Murakami will miss 4-6 weeks with a Grade 2 hamstring strain.

The Tampa Bay Rays also announced that right-handed pitcher John Heasley cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Durham.

The Miami Marlins on Saturday announced they recalled right-handed pitcher Will Kempner from Triple-A Jacksonville and placed left-handed pitcher Andrew Nardi to the 15-day injured list with a left rib cage stress reaction.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced that they reinstated right-handed pitcher Zach Pop from the 15-day injured list and designated him for assignment; in return they added Max Lazar to the 40-man roster, activated him from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A.
