The Mets are optioning Tobias Myers, Will Sammon of The Athletic reported Friday night. Sammon cited the Mets’ need of a fresh pitcher even after a day off on Thursday.
Myers has a 4.05 ERA in 20 games for the Mets this season. He was one of seven pitchers used Friday, allowing two runs in an inning of work.

The Mets (24-33) defeated the Marlins (26-32) 9-7 in 10 innings on Friday. New York jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Miami slowly but surely crawled back into the game before tying it 7-7 in the eighth inning. MJ Melendez delivered the walk-off blow in the bottom of the 10th, a two-run homer, to put the game to bed and give the Mets their second straight win.
Jorge Polanco played in his second rehab game on Friday for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and he had an extremely encouraging game. Polanco recorded a three-run home run and two walks, reaching base a total of three times. Polanco has played in just 14 games for the Mets this year and had little impact when healthy, but the Mets are certainly hoping he’s back on the major league squad before too long.
Prior to Friday’s game, Carlos Mendoza spoke to the media and reiterated that David Peterson will be moving to the bullpen. Mendoza also said Francisco Alvarez could begin a rehab assignment as early as next week.
Nolan McLean hosted a clinic on Long Island where he spent time meeting and teaching little leaguers.
