We hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed watching the Mets win a series over on the West Coast.

A starting pitcher was taken off the market Sunday night, and it’s a familiar name for Mets fans. The Kansas City Royals extended right-hander Seth Lugo for two years. It was originally reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN, with Jon Heyman of the New York Post later adding the terms of $46 million, two years.

Lugo, now 35 years old, has a 2.95 ERA in 19 starts this season.

Over the weekend, the Mets secured an important series victory against the Giants, who, like the Mets, are vying for position in a playoff race.

The Mets will stay on the West Coast, as the face off against the Padres in a three game series starting on Monday night. Frankie Montas (3-1, 4.62) will face off against Dyaln Cease (3-10, 4.59). First pitch will be at 9:40 p.m. ET.

Early on Sunday, the Mets announced the following roster moves: LHP Gregory Soto, who the Orioles recently traded to the Mets, reported to the major league team. As a result, LHP Jose Castillo was designated for assignment.

Other than a big series victory for the Mets, some baseball greats were recognized over the weekend.

Ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia and Billy Wagner were all inducted in the the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. Additionally, the families of the late Dave Parker and Dick Allen were there to celebrate the induction of those late legends.

Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reported that Aroldis Chapman has a tight back. The Red Sox do not think he will need to go to the IL. That is good news for the surging Sox, as Champan has been a key piece this season. He has 18 saves and a 1.31 ERA in 44 games this season.

Robert Murray of FanSided reported that the Braves have acquired RHP Erick Fedde and cash from the Cardinals.

According to Mark Polishuk of MLB Trade Rumors, the Cubs are interested in Raisel Iglesias and MacKenzie Gore. The Cubs appeared to be in charge of the NL Central for the first half of the season, but the Brewers have slowly charged. Now, the Central looks to give us one of the most exciting division races of the season.

The Texas Rangers are winners of six straight games, giving them a 56-50 record on the season. As a result, they are tied for the final spot in the AL Wild Card race. This recent hot stretch has seemingly made them buyers.

Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Rangers are “moving closer to adding than subtracting.” Nick Deeds of MLB Trade Rumors reports that the Rangers are interested in a high-leverage reliever and a right-handed bat.
