Mike Puma of the New York Post reports the New York Mets are bringing up right-hander Justin Hagenman to pitch on Friday. Hagenman is expected to be the bulk pitcher vs. the Phillies, whether as the starter or out of the bullpen.

Hagenman, 28, pitched well in his major league debut for the Mets on April 16. He allowed only one run in 3 1/3 innings with four strikeouts. Hagenman has also pitched well over the last two outings in Triple-A Syracuse: 9.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 12 K.

Hagenman is already on the Mets’ 40-man roster, much like Blade Tidwell, another pitcher who was lined up to pitch for the Mets on Friday, potentially. Mets pitching prospect Nolan McLean (2.56 ERA) would’ve been another option for Friday on five days rest.

The Mets recently placed Kodai Senga and Tylor Megill on the injured list, giving them multiple needs in the rotation. Paul Blackburn got the chance to start on Wednesday against the Braves, but struggled, giving up three earned runs in 3 2/3 innings.
