The Mets announced Wednesday that they have signed veterans Jon Singleton and Niko Goodrum to minor league contracts. Both players will report to Triple-A Syracuse.
The Mets have also signed right-handed pitcher José Marte, per MMO’s own Mike Mayer. The right-hander had a 2.33 ERA with 14 strikeouts and 10 walks last season in 19 1/3 innings with the Angels. Also had a 2.22 ERA in 28 1/3 Triple-A innings. The 28-year-old underwent shoulder surgery last September.
Singleton received a solid amount of playing time with the Astros in 2024, batting .234/.321/.386 (105 wRC+) with 13 homers in 405 plate appearances. Houston granted him his release after he went 7-for-41 in spring training.

A former top prospect, Singleton inked a five-year extension with the Astros before playing a major league game, but he struggled to carry his MiLB success over to the majors and was suspended 100 games for failing a drug test for marijuana for the third time in his career. After four years away from baseball and a brief stint in the Mexican League, Singleton revived his career with a minor league deal with the Brewers in 2022 before re-signing with Houston in 2023.
Goodrum, meanwhile, was a fixture in the Tigers’ lineup from 2018-21, playing every position except pitcher and catcher. He appeared in just 13 games in 2024, going 3-for-29 between the Rays and Angels. The 33-year-old was solid in Triple-A, batting .284/.375/.460 with seven homers in 243 plate appearances. He performed well in 27 plate appearances with the Padres in spring training, going 5-for-18 with nine walks against six strikeouts, but was granted his release at the end of camp.
