Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Saturday that Michael King has essentially been taken off the trade block, and Dylan Cease is becoming more likely to stay in San Diego. The Mets were linked to both pitchers recently. Acee adds that All-Star closer Robert Suarez is the most probable player for the Padres to trade, though the team isn’t seeking to deal him.

The Mets have signed right-hander Andrew Carson to a minor league deal. Carson went undrafted but had a strong season at the University of Tampa, posting a 1.06 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 34 innings. Carson has been working out at Tread Athletics this offseason.

Recently retired outfielder Kevin Kiermaier has joined the Blue Jays’ front office as a special assistant. Kiermaier spent 2023 and most of 2024 with the Blue Jays, though he was dealt to the Dodgers at the trade deadline.
