They’ve struck again. Merely a few days after inking starting pitcher Roki Sasaki, a pitcher the New York Mets had interest in, the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a deal with left-handed reliever Tanner Scott, per Mark Feinsand. The Mets also had interest in Tanner Scott but decided to sign A.J. Minter to a deal.
The deal is reportedly for four-years, $72 million, and the Dodgers add him to a bullpen that includes Blake Treinen (who the Dodgers also re-signed this offseason) and Michael Kopech.
Scott pitched for the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres last year. He posted a 1.75 ERA in 72 innings to go along with 22 saves and 104 strikeouts. He has a 2.04 ERA over the last two seasons.
The best reliever on the market is now the latest to join the Dodgers. A team that has been very active in free agency as they pursue a second consecutive World Series title and a third in six years. They’ve signed Scott, Sasaki, Blake Snell, brought back Treinen, Hyeseong Kim, Michael Conforto and were able to re-sign Teaoscar Hernandez. With the signing of Scott, the Dodgers continue to show the Mets and the rest of MLB that they will be the team to beat this year.
