Good morning, Mets fans!

The New York Mets are off to London for a cheeky two-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies, a proper first-time bash for many of the players. The whole active roster and a few minor league upstarts are tagging along for the ride, set to hit the town this coming weekend. This marks the third MLB series to hit the UK’s turf. With a right buzz to soak in London’s cultural gems, the Mets are flipping between a bit of sightseeing, a posh team nosh-up and a solid focus on the game, treating the jaunt like a real top-notch affair.

Now onto the morning briefing!

Mets reliever Edwin Díaz pitched one inning for the Brooklyn Cyclones, the team’s High-A affiliate, on Thursday night as part of a rehab assignment as he works his way back from a shoulder impingement. Entering in the fifth inning with Brooklyn down 2-1, Diaz retired the first two batters, one by strikeout, before allowing a triple to Tavian Josenberger. He then proceeded to strike out the next hitter to end the inning. Díaz’s fastball ranged from 96-98 mph as he threw 14 pitches, 11 of which registered as strikes.

Ryan Clifford smashed his fourth home run since joining Double-A Binghamton with a three-run shot to dead center field, marking his third over his last four games. Despite the Rumble Ponies’ 6-3 loss to Bowie, Clifford looks to be taking full advantage of the chance to show off his impressive power at the plate after struggling out of the gate with Brooklyn in a pitcher-friendly park.
