Good morning Mets fans!
It was another quiet day on the news front as with the stall in the CBT and discussions between MLB and the MLBPA continue. The couple pieces of news we did get are from Mets pitching prospect Matt Allan and Mets hitting coach Eric Chavez, who spoke to the media at the major league-less spring training.
Latest Mets News
According to Tim Healey of Newsday Sports, Mets top pitching prospect Matt Allan said that in January he under-went another surgery to repair a nerve issue, an operational procedure that is common post-Tommy John surgery, which Allan had in May. Jacob DeGrom, Steven Matz and others had the second operation in their careers as well.
Mets hitting coach Eric Chavez spoke with SNY on Saturday from the side fields in Port St. Lucie and talked a little about his hitting philosophy heading into the season: “I’m going to simplify things. We want them going up to the plate with as little information as possible, we want their athletic ability to take over,” he said.
