Centerfielder Cameron Maybin announced his retirement via Twitter on Monday after 15 seasons in the majors. Maybin played in nine games for the Mets in 2021, garnering one hit in 28 at-bats.
Ed Blankmeyer has left the Mets organization to take on a minor league field coordinator job with the Cubs. Blankmeyer most recently managed the Brooklyn Cyclones in 2021.
The Mets have promoted Bryan Hayes to Director of Baseball Development from Assistant Director of Amateur & International Scouting. Taking his spot, Drew Toussaint has been promoted to Assistant Director of Amateur & International Scouting after being the National Hitting Crosschecker, per our very own Michael Mayer.
