According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Mets will acquire left-handed starter Rich Hill from the Rays, pending physicals. According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets will send veteran right-handed reliever Tommy Hunter and minor league utility man Matt Dyer to the Rays.

Hill, also known as Dick Mountain, has a 3.87 ERA in 19 starts for the Rays. The 41-year-old is a free agent after the season.

Hunter is currently on the injured list. Dyer, Mets fourth round pick in 2020, had a .781 OPS with the St. Lucie Mets this season. Dyer was not on the Mets top 30 prospect list.

The Mets starting rotation has been decimated with injuries, including their ace Jacob deGrom currently on the injured list.
