The Mets were scheduled to start a three-game set against cross town rival New York Yankees on Friday night. Due to inclimate weather coming in the game was delayed prior to the first pitch being thrown.
Friday’s contest has been pushed back to Sunday at Yankee Stadium. The Mets and Yankees are now slated for a doubleheader with the first game being set for 2:05 p.m, and the second game set to start at 7:05 p.m.
With Taijuan Walker the scheduled starter for Friday’s contest, the Mets announced the rotation will stay as planned. Walker will get the start on Saturday night, with Marcus Stroman and Tylor Megill the scheduled starters for the doubleheader.
The Mets totaled 30 games in July with just four off-days. Another doubleheader added to the schedule is another strong test for the Metropolitans. With both teams having playoff aspirations, and on a bit of a slide, this three-game series can provide a much needed spark for either ball club. The Subway Series is now set to begin Saturday afternoon with first pitch being thrown at 1:05 p.m.
