Mets infielder J.D. Davis, who was looking to bounce back from a subpar 2020 season, may have already suffered a setback in those plans as he was hit on his hand during game 2 of the Mets opening series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
In the top of the second, Davis received a direct hit on his left hand by a 91 MPH offering from Phillies pitcher Chase Anderson, and appeared to be in some serious pain as he was removed from the game.
The Mets announced that X-Ray’s came back negative on Davis’ hand, and he is being called day-to-day with a left hand contusion.
Luis Guillorme was subsequently called upon to pinch-run for Davis, and will take over for him at third base.
