With free agency heating up and Trevor Bauer off the table, Michael Mayer reported Monday that according to sources the Mets have been in contact with free agent right-handed starter Taijuan Walker.
Walker has spent time with Seattle, Arizona, and most recently the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020. Between Seattle and Toronto in 2020, Walker went 4-3 with a 2.70 ERA. He struck out 50 and had a 1.16 WHIP.
Walker, 28, is a veteran starter who has been in the game since he was drafted by Seattle in 2009, and he debuted in 2013. He entered the offseason ranked by CBS Sports as the No. 28 best free agent on the market.
