The Mets had their final off day of the 2019 season on Thursday, though there were three games played tied to their slim Wild Card chances.

It was a mixed bag of results starting with an early day loss by the Phillies to the Braves, 5-4. The loss dropped the Phillies to 78-73 on the season and half a game behind the Mets.

In the early evening, the Brewers pulled out a 5-1 win over the Padres to take sole possession of the second Wild Card spot. Brewers are also only a game back of the struggling Nationals (5-5 in last 10) for the first Wild Card spot.

The Brewers have nine games left, and all have them come against teams with losing records. The last six are on the road though.

Despite scoring three runs in the ninth inning on Thursday night, the Cubs lost 5-4 in extra innings to the Cardinals. It was the third straight loss for the Cubs and they are now one game back of the Brewers.

Unfortunately for the Cubs, six of their last nine game come against the first place Cardinals. They also play their last six games of the season on the road.

Here’s the Fangraphs’ Playoff Odds:

Nationals – 93.8%
Brewers – 63.2%
Cubs – 41.0%
Mets – 5.9%
Phillies 0.7%

The Mets finish the season with three games at Cincinnati, back at home with four against the Marlins, and three against the Braves at Citi Field. Given the hole they’ve put themselves in they would have to win most of their remaining games and also get help from other teams.
