The rosters for the Arizona Fall League have been set and the Mets’ will be sending seven players to join the Scottsdale Scorpions.
Those players include Andres Gimenez, David Peterson, Thomas Szapucki, Ryley Gilliam, Ali Sanchez, Patrick Mazeika, and Luis Carpio, as detailed by Jonathon Mayo, Jim Callis, and Mike Rosenbaum of MLB.com.
All of them rank inside the Mets top 30 prospects, the first two players ranking within the top 10 in the farm system, at third and seventh, respectively, according to MLB Pipeline.
Gimenez, 20, is the only one to rank in the top 100 prospects in all of baseball, ranked 91st in the game.
Szapucki (12th in the Mets farm system) and Peterson are both now pitching in Double-A Binghamton after the team promoted the former about a week ago to finish the season with the Rumble Ponies. Szapucki had a 3.25 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with a 1.33 WHIP in nine starts for Single-A St. Lucie before the promotion.
Mazeika (26th) and Carpio (28th) are also with Binghamton while Gilliam (16th) and Sanchez (17th) are currently with Triple-A Syracuse.
Notably, Pete Alonso played with the Scorpions in 2018, only months prior to making the Mets opening day roster on his way to a historic 42-homer season before the end of August.
