Nats Inquiring About White Sox, Tigers Relievers
According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Nationals are looking into the availability of two of the AL Central’s best relievers: Shane Greene of the Tigers and Alex Colome of the WhiteSox. The Nationals are currently in place for the National League’s first Wild Card spot.
Colome and Greene are both slated to become free agents after the 2020 season, while the Nationals continue to try and improve their bullpen for what feels to be the nth year in a row.
Giants Looking For Bench Help
Earlier in the day, Morosi also reported that the Giants may be looking into short-term buying “if the price is right”. The Giants have been the hottest teams in baseball in July as they have moved into serious playoff contention.
Morosi notes that specifically, the Giants have looked into Eric Sogard, the former Face of the MLB runner-up. Sogard has spent the season in Toronto, where he has continued his successful career as a utility man.
Angels Contemplating Pushinging Chips In, Looking To Buy
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Angels are beginning to ask around on the availability of top-tier starting pitching. The Halos are four games out of the AL Wild Card, and may look to make a late push.
Heyman reports on their interest in Noah Syndergaard, Matthew Boyd, and Trevor Bauer, but also notes that the fact that they are four games out of the Wild Card race means they are likely going to be very cautious about doing something of that magnitude and could be reluctant to give up some of their top prospects. The Angels could use one of baseball’s best prospects, Jo Adell, into trade negotiations, although they’re unlikely to deal him for any starter at the deadline.
