Good Morning Mets fans! On Wednesday night, the New York Mets dropped their fourth game in a row to the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 5-4 in 10 innings.

Despite Jason Vargas‘s stellar outing, where he struck out a career high 10 batters, Mickey Callaway decided to lift him after only 77 pitches.

It was deja vu all over for the Met bullpen last night, as Seth Lugo entered in the seventh inning with a 4-2. For the second straight outing, the team’s most reliable arm in the pen was unable to hold the lead giving up a two-run single to Jean Segura.

The game eventually went on to extra innings when former Met Jay Bruce came away with the walk off hit in extras on a liner to centerfield that scored the winning run from second base. This loss has the team at a season low seven games under .500 and fell to 3-7 on this road trip.

The club also has an abysmal 17-30 record away from Citi Field. At the official halfway point of the season, the Mets sit at fourth place in the NL East and 37-44, which has them on pace to finish 74-88.

This afternoon, the Mets will look to avoid being swept in four games, as well as a five game losing streak. Zack Wheeler (6-5, 4.69 ERA) will look to build off an impressive start against the Cubs last week, as he takes on Phillies ace Aaron Nola (6-2, 4.55 ERA). The game will be televised on SNY and first pitch is at 1:05 E.T.

Now let’s take a peak at what else went on in Mets land, along with the rest of the league yesterday!
