As of 5:30 AM, Mickey Callaway is still the manager of the Mets.
Yesterday, the Mets lost 3-0 against the Marlins. Swept by the fish, the Mets have looked absolutely lifeless the last couple of days from the plate wasting good outings by starters and relievers. They get a bit of a do-over tonight as the Nationals come to town but it feels like things are spiraling for the Mets.

Late this afternoon, the Mets made a change went from starting Gagnon to Wilmer Font. If today follows patterns from recent Font starts, Gagnon should still see some serious time on the mound tonight. Rather than previewing Font which we have done twice in the last two weeks, let’s take a look at Drew Gagnon:
He is 1-0 over 6 games and 11.0 innings this year with a 4.09 ERA, 3.20 FIP, 1.091 WHIP and 97 ERA+. Since his first outing in a rout against the Phillies, he has tossed 5.2 scoreless innings with opponents batting .190 against him. This includes his last long relief outing where he pitched 2.2 innings of three hit ball. The Nationals have the following numbers against him:
- Brian Dozier 0-2
- Anthony Rendon 1-2
- Victor Robles 0-2, 2 K
- Wilmer Difo 0-1
- Adam Eaton 1-1
- Howie Kendrick 0-1
- Juan Soto 1-1
The Mets bats will get another shot at beating Patrick Corbin. Corbin is 4-1 over nine starts and 58.2 innings with a 2.91 ERA, 3.11 FIP, 1.040 WHIP and a 152 ERA+. In his last two starts he has tossed 15.0 innings allowing one run over seven hits with five walks. One of those two starts was against the Mets who he beat in his last start by throwing eight innings of one run ball. The Mets have the following numbers against Corbin:
- Juan Lagares 4-20, 2B, HR, 3 K
- Todd Frazier 4-16, 2B, HR, 2 BB, 3 K
- Amed Rosario 2-17, 2B, HR, 2 K
