Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Dominic Smith, Luis Guillorme, J.D. Davis, Luis Avilan, and Tim Peterson have all made the Mets Opening Day roster.

Smith, 23, was phenomenal this Spring, hitting .321/.367/.464 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 61 plate appearances. However, Pete Alonso also had a phenomenal Spring and made the team, creating an interesting situation at first base, with Alonso likely getting most of the playing time at first base.

Guillorme, 24, worked his way up from the bottom as the team was down on him after last season, but came into camp and hit .342/.444/.526 in 19 games, prompting the team to somewhat surprisingly send down Adeiny Hechavarria who many expected to be the backup shortstop to Amed Rosario.

Davis, 25, was acquired this offseason from the Houston Astros along with minor league shortstop Cody Bohanek in exchange for Luis Santana, Ross Adolph, and Scott Manea. The California native hit .309/.367/.491 with two home runs and nine RBI in 60 plate appearances for the Mets this Spring.

Avilan, 29, signed a minor league deal with the Mets in January that included an upwards mobility clause, which he exercised. Had the team not added him to the Opening Day roster, the Mets would have had to give all 29 other teams the ability to add him to their MLB rosters, and only if no team did would the Mets be able to option him to Triple-A. The lefty made the team’s bullpen, though, as a 2.31 ERA, 0.857 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings.

Lastly, Tim Peterson, 28, somewhat surprisingly made the team given the fact that he was actually optioned to minor league camp on Friday which often signals that a player didn’t make the team. However, the team decided to carry him as the team’s seventh reliever over Kyle Dowdy, who was claimed off waivers yesterday by the Texas Rangers. Peterson recorded a 4.35 ERA, 1.161 WHIP, and nine strikeouts in 10 1/3 Spring Training innings.

So the Opening Day roster is now set and will look as follows:
