Mets Opening Day is three weeks away with veteran infielders Todd Frazier (left oblique strain) and Jed Lowrie (left knee capsule sprain) have yet to play in a game this spring.

According to Matt Ehalt of The Record, Lowrie said he’s making progress in his rehab, “Hopefully with a little bit of testing and making sure things are progressing well, I can begin baseball activities soon.”

However, Lowrie still not running yet and hope’s to resume baseball activity soon. The veteran signed a two-year deal with the Mets to primarily play third base.

Frazier started running on Tuesday and he fielded ground balls on Thursday. Frazier is coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign and in the last season of his deal with the Mets.

Jeff McNeil was not in the Mets lineup on Thursday. The Mets have not said yet whether he will shift to focusing on third base with both Lowrie and Frazier questionable for Opening Day. J.D. Davis, acquired from the Astros, could be another option at the hot corner. Glove-first Adeiny Hechavarria has been playing third recently as well.

Time is running out for Frazier and Lowrie to get enough at-bats to be ready for Opening Day on March 28.
