According to The Associated Press, the New York Mets and Washington Nationals are among the teams being discussed for an international series in London during the 2020 season. Another series being considered for the same season include the well-known Chicago Cubs-St. Louis Cardinals rivalry.

The two sources who told the AP spoke anonymously since no announcements are allowed at this time. An official announcement will be made after Opening Day 2019.

MLB will hold its inaugural London series this June 29-30, when the New York Yankees and defending champion Boston Red Sox face off.

The 2012 London Olympic venue will host current and future MLB international series occurring there. Baseball also has agreements with Asia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic that have already experimented with past series, and these same locations will continue to receive future series as well.

The Mets have played overseas three times in their franchise history, including a game against the San Diego Padres in Monterrey, Mexico in 1996, a series against the Cubs in Tokyo in 2000 and a series against the then Florida Marlins in 2010 in Puerto Rico.
