WCBS-AM announced on Thursday it has named Howie Rose and Wayne Randazzo as its Mets radio broadcasters for 2019. Longtime clubhouse reporter Ed Coleman will host pre-game coverage including the manager’s show while WCBS morning sports anchor Brad Heller will act as a “utility player” in all area of the broadcasts.

“This is an exciting time for WCBS 880 as we launch our inaugural season of New York Mets broadcast coverage”, said Susan Larkin, the Regional President and Marketing Manager of Entercom, the company that owns WCBS.  “Mets fans are some of the most passionate fans in baseball, and we trust, behind Howie, Wayne and the rest of the broadcast team, they will consistently turn to this historic station for coverage of their favorite team.”

Mets executive VP Lou DePaoli said in a statement, “We’re thrilled once again to be part of the Entercom family that enables our fans to enjoy Mets baseball on a …station …with such a tremendous reach.”

Mets games had been broadcast on WFAN, which is also owned by Entercom, from 1987-2013. After 2013, the Mets moved to WOR in an arrangement that lasted five years.

Rose has been covering the Mets since 1995 on radio and television. He became the lead radio broadcaster in 2006. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new radio home as he is a devout Mets fan.

This will be Randazzo’s first year in a play-by-play capacity. He formerly hosted the pre-game and post-game shows for the Mets while occasionally filling in for former Met broadcaster Josh Lewin, who was let go by the Mets after last season after having partnered with Rose for seven years.

Coleman has been a part of the Mets in several capacities for many years mainly focusing as the Mets clubhouse reporter. He also occasionally filled in when one of the main broadcasters was out. He will reprise his clubhouse role as part of his pre-game coverage for WCBS.

WCBS will air ten spring training games before carrying the entire regular season. The first spring training game that will be broadcast will be on February 23 against the Atlanta Braves at 1:00 p.m.
