According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Mets minor-league outfielder Tim Tebow broke the hamate bone in his right hand. Tebow will have surgery on Tuesday and will likely miss the remainder of the season.
Tebow, 30, just participated in the Eastern League All-Star Game.
He was hitting .273 with six home runs on the season for Double-A Binghamton before the injury.
A hamate bone break generally puts you in a cast for six weeks, then rehab of up to six weeks, shortly followed by two more weeks of physical activity before return to baseball games.
Tebow was a candidate for a call up on Sept. 1.
