Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that the Mets will push back Zack Wheeler‘s next start to Monday as a mean’s of trying to avoid taxing the bullpen in Monday’s doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies.
In place of him, the Mets will call up a yet-to-be-determined minor league starter to face off against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. That will give Wheeler an extra day of rest as well.
