That sucked. You can check out the recap to the first half of today’s double header here, but the ending sucks. SPOILER ALERT: The Mets blew another sparkling deGrom start; the 22nd time in his career he left the game with a lead but came away with a no-decision.

The Mets are turning to P.J. Conlon, so lets look at his only Major League start. His debut happened as a spot start for deGrom when he missed time due to his elbow. Conlon allowed three runs off four hits and two walks in 3.2 innings of work against the Reds. In the minors this year he has posted a 6.58 ERA over 39.2 innings. To be fair, only Flexen is having a good year in the Las Vegas rotation right now.

The Mets bats will close the night with Brandon McCarthy who is 5-2 over 10 starts and 52.0 innings with a 4.67 ERA, 4.30 FIP, 1.577 WHIP and 83 ERA+. In his last two starts he has allowed two runs in 11.2 innings while striking out 13 batters. He faced the Mets as a member of the Dodger pitching staff last year holding the Mets scoreless in 6.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

  • Cabrera 3-11, 2B, HR, 2 BB
  • Gonzalez 6-12, 2 B, HR, BB
  • Bruce 3-10
  • Reyes 0-9, BB
  • Mesoraco 3-5
  • Bautista 1-4, HR
  • Flores 1-3

Let’s Go Mets!
