Todd Frazier‘s deal was officially announced in a press conference on Wednesday. Frazier later described his expectations for the 2018 season saying he’s shooting for a .275 average, 35 home runs and 100 RBI’s. We’ll take it.

“I love that challenge,” Frazier said. “I love that maybe I can help this team and lead this team. I’m not trying to step on anybody’s toes. But I think we’ve got a really good thing going here and we have a really good opportunity here in New York to make some noise.”

Sandy Alderson and Jeff Wilpon both reached out to David Wright to discuss the Frazier deal with him before making it official. Wright was all for it and reached out to Frazier and welcomed him to the team.

The roster casualty for Frazier was infielder Matt Reynolds. Reynolds appeared in 112 games over the past two seasons and although he didn’t show much with the bat, he showcased his value as a passable utility man.

There’s a new name on the Mets beat! Tim Britton announced that he will be covering the Mets for The Athletic. Britton had previously covered the Red Sox for the Providence Journal for the past seven years. We wish him the best!
