The shareholders of the Syracuse Chiefs have approved the sale of the franchise to the New York Mets for $18 million per Syracuse.com.
New York will acquire the team from the Community Baseball Club of Central New York Inc. and have committed to keeping the Chiefs in Syracuse at least through the 2025 season, the duration of the current lease to play in NBT Stadium.
The Mets have one year left on their deal with the Las Vegas 51s at Cashman Field where they’ve been since 2013.
No more cross country flights when the Mets need a player on short notice will be a huge welcomed change.
