Baseball America recently ranked the New York Mets top-10 prospects for the 2018 season. Along with that ranking, they also posted their annual list of tools among all players in the Mets minor league system. Here they are…

Best Hitter for Average: Andres Gimenez

Best Power Hitter: Peter Alonso

Best Strike-Zone Discipline: Desmond Lindsay

Fastest Baserunner: Champ Stuart

Best Athlete: Desmond Lindsay

Best Fastball: Tyler Bashlor

Best Curveball: Chris Flexen

Best Slider: Thomas Szapucki

Best Changeup: Adonis Uceta

Best Control: Jordan Humphreys

Best Defensive Catcher: Ali Sanchez

Best Defensive Infielder: Luis Guillorme

Best Infield Arm: Andres Gimenez

Best Defensive Outfielder: Desmond Lindsay

Best Outfield Arm: Wagner Lagrange

It’s nice to see Lindsay mentioned a few times and maybe it’s a prelude to a breakout season in 2018.  Alonso is a name that we’ll be hearing more and more of in the future as his stock continues to rise in prospects lists after a solid showing at the plate across two levels last season in St. Lucie and Binghamton where he posted a .578 slugging and .915 OPS.  Luis Guillorme continues to dazzle defensively and we could see him work his way into a bench role at the very least for the Mets at some point next season.
