New York Mets right-hander Seth Lugo threw a bullpen today and has been deemed good to go for a Sunday start against the Washington Nationals.

Lugo was placed on the disabled list on August 11 with a shoulder impingement.

After a great 2016, this season has been a struggle for Lugo, who is 5-3 on the year with a 4.85 ERA, 4.47 FIP, 1.413 WHIP and 6.8 K/9.

The New York Mets announced that right-handed starter Zack Wheeler will not pitch again during the 2017 season.

Wheeler, 27, pitched poorly this season in his first big league action since 2014. In 17 starts, he went 3-7 with a 5.21 ERA, 5.03 FIP and 1.587 WHIP. In 86.1 innings he has struck out 81 and walked 40.

He was placed on the disabled list on July 24 with a stress reaction in his right arm.

Seth Lugo is going to throw a bullpen on Friday and is tentatively scheduled to start against the Washington Nationals on Sunday. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to August 11.

Tyler Pill underwent season-ending arthroscopic elbow debridement surgery yesterday.

Matt Harvey will make his next rehab start for the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday.

Noah Syndergaard will travel to Port St. Lucie today to continue his rehab program that will include throwing live batting practice.
