The New York Mets announced that their starter from Wednesday night’s 10-5 over the Colorado Rockies, Chris Flexen, departed the game with a blister on the index finger of his pitching hand.

It is unclear if Flexen was removed due to the blister or due to his performance. The young right-hander was getting hit hard again in just three innings of work.

He allowed five runs on eight hits, one walk and two strikeouts. Flexen has now gone only three innings in each of his first two major league starts though last night he had better control.

Robert Gsellman is working his way back to the rotation having thrown three scoreless innings during a rehab start with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Tuesday ngiht.
